Ferry sinks off South Korea
A ferry carrying about 470 passengers has sunk off the coast of South Korea’s Jindo Island. The ferry, identified as the Sewol, was carrying hundreds of people including students and teachers when it submerged after running aground. At the time of going to press three people had been confirmed dead, with more than 100 still unaccounted for.
