Ramadan gift guide: 10 perfect presents for your loved ones

From Ramadan-inspired pillows to customised kanduras, here is our list

Ramadan is the month of giving. And while charity and donations to the poor come first, giving to family and close friends is a good idea too. We’ve put together 10 Ramadan-inspired pieces to get you into the spirit of giving.

Modest abaya: One of our favourite gifts for Ramadan is the abaya. Modest clothing is highly encouraged during Ramadan, so a modest abaya is a great gift option. We absolutely love this white piece by Zenna Zaki, available at Galeries Lafayette in Dubai.

Traditional backgammon: If you’re living in the Middle East, you would know that backgammon is very popular in this part of the world. We think the traditional board game makes for a great Ramadan gift, particularly this limited edition version by luxury car brand Bentley. It features original Bentley interior leather and veneer and the Bentley wings logo on every check.

Allah pendant: Ramadan jewellery collections are great gifts because brands such as UAE-based Pure Gold get really creative with designs. An example is this Allah pendant designed with yellow gold, diamonds and precious stones.

Arabian sandals: For Ramadan, many men like to sport Arabian-styled shoes. We love the collection at Level Shoe District, which includes traditional leather sandals by UAE-based brand Tamashee. We love that they’re both comfortable and stylish, so would make for a great gift.

Forever Rose: If you haven’t heard of Forever Rose, you’re missing out. The company offers natural roses that live up to three years. For Ramadan, they created differently sized boxes with fresh garden roses or Forever Roses paired with luxury Debailleul Belgian chocolates and dusted almonds. Talk about a special gift.

Arabian fragrances: Oriental perfumes are great gifts for the men in your life this Ramadan, be it your father, brother, or husband. We like Black Saffron by Byredo because it has a unique mixture of notes such as black violet, leather and saffron. Black Saffron is available at all Paris Gallery stores.

Golden fruits: These fruits are not actually golden, but they’re dipped in chocolate, nuts and gold food colouring. They’re great alternatives to chocolate and Arabic sweets gift hampers because they’re still healthier. You can get these from theflowershop.ae.

Themed pieces: Boutiques are great for gift shopping because they make special pieces with themed-collections. BeYou Boutique in Jumeirah is a great example. Check out its Ramadan-inspired pillow ‘iftar’ designed by Maria Iqbal.

Customised kandura: During Ramadan, Islamic menswear such as the kandura becomes very popular. Since most Arab men own a kandura, you could gift a customised one instead. Toby by Hatem Alakeel has sleek and modern pieces!

Oriental kaftan: A traditional kaftan is always a great gift in Ramadan because it is a time when such modest wear is encouraged. We love this embellished and digital printed piece by Haya’s Closet, available on Namshi.com.
