Dubai Police chief Lt General Dahi Khalfan Tamim received the Arabian Business Lifetime Achievement Award at a glittering ceremony held Sunday night at The Armani Hotel in Dubai.
Tamim, was honoured for “his outstanding work over many decades,” said judges of the Arabian Business Achievement Awards 2011.
The 60-year-old was one of 15 winners to scoop awards at the ceremony. Other big winners included Emaar chairman Mohamed Alabbar, who won Businessman of the Year.
The award was made in recognition of his work at mining company AMER, which the judges said was worth “more than one billion dollars after just two years in operation”.
Businesswoman of the Year went to Lebanese entrepreneur Christine Sfeir, while Etihad Airways took the coveted Airline of the Year award
Fadi Ghadour’s Ruwwad Initiative received the Humanitarian Award, while Al Arab Contracting took Construction Company of the Year. Jordan’s Arab Bank won Bank of the Year.
The youngest winners of the night were 21-year-old Emiratis Fatima Al Ghaith and Meera Al Siri, who received the first Young Achievers Award. Sudanese graduate Mohamed Baloola took the award for Science and Innovation.
