Dubai police have arrested a gang for human trafficking after they were caught forcing women into the sex trade.
Police received a tip-off about a murder at a flat, but instead found two Asian men and one Asian woman running a massage centre where they were forcing one woman and a 15-year-old girl to work as prostitutes and masseuses.
A larger group of women and girls were working at the massage centre, according to a report in 7 Days, but it was not clear whether they were also being forced to work as prostitutes.
Prosecutor Ali Humaid bin Khatam called for tough punishment against the accused.
He was quoted as saying: “The first woman said that she came to the country to work in a decent massage centre but one of the suspects took her from Dubai International Airport to a flat where she found his wife.
“They took her passport and after a week she started working as a masseuse. The third suspect was transporting her to different flats to do massages for customers.”
The woman claimed members of the gang beat her up to force her into providing sexual services for customers. But she asked a client to help her and he called the police.
The 15-year-old initially came to work as a maid for the trio, 7Days reported.
They have been referred to Dubai Criminal Court.
