Restoring economic activity in Dubai will not come at the cost of people’s health, said Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid on Sunday.
He added that recent experiences as a result of the coronavirus pandemic have “made us stronger, better and faster”.
The Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai was chairing the first meeting of the Cabinet since government workers were allowed to return to offices.
In a social media posting through the Dubai Media Office, he said: “All entities and sectors are partaking in protecting their personnel. Health will remain a priority. Restoring the economic wheel is both strategic and necessary.”
Sheikh Mohammed said that the emirate was now entering a new phase in dealing with the Covid-19 crisis, which has so far infected 34,557 people in the UAE and claimed the lives of 264 individuals.
“The coming phase requires us to have a new spirit, with different thinking and to work faster and with greater flexibility,” he said.
It was announced last week that government offices in Dubai would be able to operate up to 50 percent capacity from Sunday (May 31), with the numbers increasing to a 100 percent return by June 14.
Sheikh Mohammed added: “We discussed in our meeting the procedures for the return of employees to their offices and the future mechanisms of gov’t work. We formed a team to develop smart judicial services, a team to study societal culture & a policy to automate government work.”
