The UAE has emerged as the best destination for expatriates on several counts, a new global report said.
Professional prospects, leisure options, travel, transport language, bureaucracy, job satisfaction, safety, healthcare, digital life, housing, wages and job safety are the major factors on which the Gulf country scored over other countries to get the coveted expatriate destination status, InterNations, a German research firm, said.
In its ‘Expat Insider 2022’ report, InterNations said the UAE achieved advanced positions in four key pillars and 11 indexes out of the total five pillars and 17 indexes.
The report ranked expatriate destination countries in terms of quality of life, ease of settling in, working abroad, personal finance and the availability of basic essentials.
The report revealed that 94 percent of those surveyed felt safe in the UAE, while the global rate on this was under 81 percent.
As high as 86 percent of residents included in the survey said they were happy about the available government services in the UAE, exceeding the global rate by 25 percentage points.
In addition, 90 percent of respondents noted that they can use cashless payments in the UAE, while the global rate on this was 84 percent.
In terms of the healthcare sector, the percentage of residents who highlighted the easy access to healthcare services in the UAE was 78 percent, as against the global rate of 64 percent.
Seventy nine percent of those surveyed said living in the UAE advanced their professional prospects, compared to the global average of 65 percent on this aspect.
About 85 percent of surveyed individuals also noted that not speaking the local language was not a barrier for staying in the UAE. The global percentage on this front was 51 percent.
As high as 83 percent of surveyed residents in the UAE felt the administrative procedures in UAE are simple and easy, outperforming the global rate of 56 percent by 27 points.
About 75 percent of those surveyed said that the process of finding housing in the UAE was easy – as against the global rate of 54 percent, while 83 percent of respondents noted the ease of applying for a residence visa in the Gulf country against the global rate of 56 percent, making the UAE the world’s leading country in this area.
