MAF Shopping Malls, part of the Dubai-based Majid Al Futtaim Group, is to build Mirdif City Centre at a cost of US $708 million (AED2.6 billion).
The shopping centre, located on Emirates Road and Tripoli Street, will stretch across 183,400m2 and will be completed by the fourth quarter of 2009.
It will be home to 430 retail outlets with a provision for eight anchor stores, including Carrefour.
A strategic perimeter road network, including dedicated service vehicle and taxi links from Emirates Road, along with four designated loading bay zones, will facilitate ease of access and exit to and from the centre for all shoppers and service providers.
There will also be a 17-screen multiplex cinema and over 60 restaurants and cafes.
“This area is earmarked by Dubai Municipality for significant residential development and population growth over the next five years,” said Graham Drevermen, CEO, MAF Shopping Malls.
“By 2010, the population of the centre’s primary and secondary trade area is estimated to grow to over 530,000,” he added.
