A new web-based tool has been launched in Dubai to manage snagging problems on construction projects.
SnagTRAK software provides a platform for project, quality and safety managers to maintain visibility of the issues that arise during construction.
It has been developed specifically for the Middle East construction industry by Ethos Consultancy and is currently being used by the joint venture of Dutco Balfour Beatty, CCC and Al Ghandi on Dubai Mall.
Combining text with photographs, SnagTRAK enables the flow of information from the inspector to the contractors, overcoming communication barriers and ensuring that defects are not left un-attended.
According to the company, this means that the cost of rectifying errors and defects in construction work is picked up by the contractor responsible; response times, trends and recurring problems can be identified and addressed accordingly; and health and safety issues can be quickly reported and dealt with.
Robert Keay, managing director, Ethos Consultancy, said: “Users of this system say that it has an instant positive affect on the four main areas of construction operations: management of information, safety, quality and financial. Managers are able to view the progress of every section of any project while ensuring that loose ends that make up the problem of snagging can be shared with the client.”
The release of SnagTRAK comes at a time when the regional construction industry across is under pressure to raise health and safety standards and deliver projects on time.
