Two of Dubai’s biggest developers Emaar Properties and Dubai Properties Group on Sunday agreed to use energy-efficient Dubai Lamp in all its existing and upcoming projects.

The lamp Initiative is a research partnership between Dubai Municipality and Philips Lighting. Two million lamps are likely to be use in residential and professional use across the city this year.

“We expect the entire Dubai will glow in Dubai Lamp by 2021,” Hussain Nasser Lootah, director general, Dubai Municipality, told to Arabian Business on sidelines of the agreement.

“We are expecting to have 10 million energy-efficient LED lamp across the emirate. We see not just developers but even residents using our lamp,” he added.

Ahmad Al Matrooshi, managing director, Emaar Properties said the company will soon start work on a survey of all its developments, including the Burj Khalifa, to decide on how and where they can use Dubai Lamp.

“We will undertake a survey and see how we can fit Dubai Lamp in all our existing and upcoming projects,” he said, adding it will give residents of Emaar communities the option to use the lamp.

Abdulla Lahej, chief executive officer, Dubai Properties Group, said they plan to use the LED lamp in all its existing and new projects since it will help in reducing their operational cost.

Dubai Lamp helps households and enterprises reduce electricity cost by up to 90 percent, according to the municipality.

It will be available in four versions and in cool daylight and warm white colours before year-end.
