
Social distancing requirements have been re-introduced at Saudi Arabia’s Grand Mosque and Prophet’s Mosque.
According to a report on the state-run Saudi Press Agency, which quoted an official source at the General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Holy Mosque and the Prophet’s Holy Mosque, social distancing is being applied among worshippers and redistributing praying areas and Umra performers on the virtual tawaf (circumambulation) paths.
Visitors and workers are also urged to wear face masks and adhere to access times according to the permits issued.
On Wednesday, an official source at the Ministry of Interior announced that the mandatory wearing of face masks and social distancing in all closed and open places and events and activities, would come into force from 7am on December 30.
The kingdom announced 744 new cases of Covid yesterday and 231 recoveries over the previous 24 hours. According to the Ministry of Health, there are 43 critical cases, while one further fatality was reported.
