In a strategic alliance with the Government of Kuwait, Google Cloud will introduce a new “comprehensive digital transformation roadmap” across governmental entities and key state-owned enterprises.
The move will allow the Kuwaiti government to use Google Cloud’s innovative technology and expertise in data analytics, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence (AI) “to deliver on its commitment to make digitisation one of its top national priorities in the coming years,” the company said in a statement on Tuesday.
Google Cloud will also work with Kuwait’s government to digitise citizen services and increase its employees’ productivity, the statement added.
The computer application entity will also implement various digital transformation initiatives across healthcare, education, disaster recovery, and smart living, in collaboration with the government.
“The strategic alliance supports the Government of Kuwait’s Vision 2035, which aims to transform Kuwait into a digital society and diversify its economy. We are proud to bring the latest Google Cloud technologies to Kuwait to help the country realise its digitisation ambitions. The arrival of Google Cloud will contribute to developing a rich tech ecosystem in the country, creating exciting, highly-skilled job opportunities for Kuwaitis,” Google Cloud chief executive officer Thomas Kurian said.

Google Cloud also aims to set up a local office in Kuwait and operate a cloud region in the country. “The new cloud region will support public sector organisations, businesses, and startups in their digital transformation journeys, which will contribute to realizing Kuwait’s ambition to become a data-driven economy,” the company said.
Google Cloud’s new region will operate in collaboration with the Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA), the Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT), and the Communication and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA).
Aside from this, Google Cloud will also launch an upskilling program with Central Agency for Information Technology (CAIT) in order to upskill government employees in digital technologies, data analytics, machine learning (ML), AI, and security solutions.
