Avaya has given Mideast Communication Systems (MCS) its internet protocol (IP) distribution contract in Egypt.
The firm said MCS would help it to better reach the small to medium business (SMB) sector in the country.
“As businesses look towards making IP telephony an integral tool to enable development and expansion, we believe that partnering with MCS will help Avaya leverage its telephony solutions to Egyptian SMBs and help them to increase their business opportunities,” said Sherif Khairallah, sales manager, Avaya Egypt.
Avaya said it is focusing its recently-launched IP Office 500 platform on the SMB sector in the region.
In 2006, an Avaya survey of 1,400 decision makers in the Middle East revealed that 71% are ready to deploy (IP) telephony solutions, including 55% who already have converged voice and data networks in place. Of those without a converged network, more than half plan to implement IP telephony within the next six to 12 months, according to the survey.
