United Technologies Corp’s Sikorsky unit received a $171 million contract for 14 UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters designed for the UAE.
Under the contract awarded on December 22, Sikorsky will make the helicopters and “convert them to the unique configuration” for the UAE, the Pentagon said on its website.
The US defence department notified Congress of the possible sale in September 2008 and said the helicopters and related equipment could be valued at as much as $774 million.
Sikorsky spokesman Paul Jackson did not immediately respond to a telephone call seeking comment.
The Pentagon separately announced a $258.4 million order to Oshkosh Corp for 728 M1075 palletised load system trucks.
The trucks, capable of hauling payloads of up to 16.5 tons, are used to transport ammunition and supplies to US troops on battlefields, according to the Army’s website.
