Says he is leaving to “pursue a new opportunity”

Jumeirah Group CEO Jose Silva is stepping down after five years at the helm, telling staff he is quitting to “pursue a new opportunity.”

He is credited with helping transform the group into a global brand, opening new properties in Bali, Muscat and The Maldives.

He came to the role with 25 years experience with Four Seasons Hotels & Resorts. He was regional VP and GM of the Four Seasons Hotel George V in Paris previously.

In an email to staff he said: “It is with a heavy heart I inform you that I will be leaving Jumeirah and embarking on a new chapter of my career.

“It has been a privilege and a pleasure to serve as Chief Executive Officer of Jumeirah Hotels & Resorts for the last five years. Working in partnership with Dubai Holding and all of you, we have achieved major accomplishments in our quest to reposition Jumeirah as one of the top luxury hotel companies in the world…. With my renewed gratitude and warm friendship to you all. May our paths cross soon as neighbours and may our friendship be long-lasting.”
