Three new hotels are scheduled to open in Muscat next year, Oman’s Ministry of Tourism reportedly announced on Sunday.

The three-star, 152-room Al Irfan International Hotel will open in the first quarter of 2017, while the three-star, 120-room Muttrah Corniche will open by the middle of 2017 and the 4-four-star, 215-room Sundus Rotana will open in the third quarter of 2017.

A fourth hotel, the 3-star, 232-room Hilton Garden Inn hotel in Al Khuwair, is expected to open in mid-2018, Times of Oman reported.

And the 5-star Intercontinental Tilal Muscat, with 244 rooms, is expected to open by end-2019, the ministry added.

Maitha Al Mahrouqi, undersecretary of the Ministry of Tourism, was quoted as saying Oman was aiming for tourism growth of 8 to 12 percent per year.

“The biggest airport will open; the convention centre has already opened. Then, there are a few five-star hotels that are in the pipeline and will also open next year,” she said.
