The Dubai Municipality has banned smoking shisha in parks, beaches and all public recreational areas in Dubai, newswire WAM reported on Thursday.
The move is a part of the emirate’s Strategic Plan for 2007-2015 aimed at protecting public health and improve the quality of life for residents.
Salem Mohammad Bin Musmar, Assistant to the Director General of Dubai Municipality for Health, Safety and Environment Control said the decision is in conjunction with the municipalty’s concern about the effects of shisha smoking on children who visit public places.
The Municipality urged beach and park visitors to abide by the decision and cooperate with the attendants of such public places in best interest of the public.
