Khalil captures Al-Futtaim role

Former Toshiba Middle East and Africa boss Ahmed Khalil is making his much-anticipated return to the regional technology market by joining giant pan-Gulf group Al-Futtaim – the notebook vendor’s exclusive distribution partner in the UAE.

Former Toshiba Middle East and Africa boss Ahmed Khalil is making his much-anticipated return to the regional technology market by joining giant pan-Gulf group Al-Futtaim – the notebook vendor’s exclusive distribution partner in the UAE.

A spokesperson for the company confirmed Khalil will become the general manager of Al-Futtaim Technologies’ international operation.

Al-Futtaim Technologies is part of the group’s Electronics and Engineering Business Division, and classifies itself as a solution provider primarily focused on the SMB sector.

In addition to notebooks, and office products from Toshiba, Al-Futtaim Technologies – better known in the market as Aftech – delivers Alcatel communications solutions and is a certified Microsoft Dynamics partner. Aftech also provides infrastructure services to other companies within the Al-Futtaim Group.

The scope of Khalil’s new role has not yet been disclosed, although it is understood to include a responsibility for developing the company’s business in Africa.
