Apple will be forced to delay the launch of its 12.9-inch iPad until the second quarter of next year, AppleInsider reported, citing a KGI research note.
The iPad Pro, as it is being provisionally called by some, uses oxide LCD technology for the tablet’s display, to deliver sharper touch-UI response and high colour saturation, according to KGI analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.
Because of time constraints on assembly, after the manufacture of 27-inch Retina iMacs, Ming-Chi believes the large-screen tablet will not be volume-ready by Q1.
The KGI analyst also expects last-gen iPad shipment volumes to fall in 2015, with iPad Air 2 and the iPad mini 3 having nothing significantly fresh to offer. In the first quarter, Ming-Chi believes that a drop in sales following the holiday period, coupled with tablet market saturation, will suppress iPad shipments down to 9.8m units, a fall of 54.5 percent, quarter-on-quarter.
