Emirates Golf Club, established in 1988 as the first green golf course in the desert lands of the Middle East, has been named the 4th most popular golf course in the world where fans want to go and play.
This was revealed in a study conducted by popular apparel brand Galvin Green, which tried to gauge the interest of golf fans through various search and social media metrics.
The iconic Majlis course, designed by Karl Litten and home to the DP World Tour’s Hero Dubai Desert Classic since 1989, stood in the august company of Augusta National Golf Club, which was ranked the most popular, followed by PGA Tour’s Players Championship venue TPC Sawgrass and the legendary Old Course at St Andrews, considered the home of golf.
The importance of UAE in world golf was further underscored with Abu Dhabi Golf Club also featured in the top 10. The Peter Harradine designed course came in at No. 7.
At a time when interest in golf has reached record levels across the world, Galvin Green used Google Keyword Planner and Instagram data to determine which courses and prestigious clubs have attracted the most golfers to their landing pages and social media following over the past year.

What this study shows is just how much interest there is in these top-quality golfing locations and the extent to which golfers want to share their appreciation of them with others.”
