Eid Al-Fitr is predicted to begin on April 20 or 21, depending on the sighting of the moon. This means a long weekend for residents of the UAE. For the Eid period, travel searches have seen an upward trend as residents are seeking short international holidays.
Budget-friendly, visa-free destinations are also in high demand as residents look for a quick hassle-free getaway during the expected four-day break. Additionally, shorter travel times are preferred to optimise holiday time.
“Mini breaks, or long weekends, are a great way to experience a destination without using too much of precious holiday allowance. But if you only have about three days to take it all in, there’s a knack to making the most of it. So whether you’re considering a last-minute escape or heading out on a meticulously planned weekend getaway, make sure you’re prepped to see – and do – as much as you can,” said Ayoub El Mamoun, Skyscanner Travel Expert.

Airfares are expected to increase by 10 to 15 percent over Eid, but nearly 65 percent of people are looking to travel internationally says online travel agency Musafir.com.
Compared to the previous year, there has been a noteworthy surge in the count of UAE travellers who are looking to explore foreign destinations. Among them, a considerable proportion of about 65 percent are interested in leisure travel, while the remaining 35 percent prefer to spend quality time with their close ones, either in their homeland or nearby locations.
Booking holidays strategically over public holidays can maximise days off without using up excess annual leave allowance from an employer. By booking holidays for a certain date it could be possible to take a nine-day vacation from the UAE, by using just three days of annual leave.
