The good news is you don’t have to get up TOOOO early, but certainly from Wednesday at 4 AM UAE time is when the action should start.
With the US having three time zones, and different laws and systems in different states, there is no single point when the actual polling ends and everyone starts counting the votes. It varies hugely from state to state.
The only really important battles to watch are those in the “swing states”, with the polling stations closing from 7 PM Eastern Time onwards in many of these. The UAE is 9 hours ahead, so that means 4 AM in Dubai.
These are the big times to look out for in the different swing states:
1. Georgia – 4 AM
Massive state for both candidates, and early results can be expected about 4.20 AM with full results possible by 5 AM.
2. North Carolina – 4.30 AM
This is expected to be super close, and we think the first clues should start coming through around 4.45 AM
3. Pennsylvania – 5 AM
This is the most crucial state for both candidates, with the polls closing at 5 AM UAE time. Usually within 10 minutes we should start to see a pattern of the results coming through. But its worth remembering that back in 2020, because of problems with mail ballots, the counting took three days. But chances are will be much quicker this time.
4. Michigan – 5 AM
This state has two time zones but soon after 5 AM we should start getting a picture of the results.
5. Arizona – 6 AM
One of the later ones to keep an eye out on, and results are declared around an hour later, 7 AM UAE time.
6. Wisconsin – 6 AM
Relatively late to report and if the count is very tight in other states, this one could be crucial.
7. Nevada – 7 AM
Another later one but it is known for slower counts, we expect to see the first results coming about 8 AM.
