The UAE ranked seventh globally on the list of countries for their efforts to achieve gender balance.
The country has also topped in the region in the UN Gender Inequality Index 2024.
The index is issued by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).
The 2024 ranking is a significant improvement for the Emirates, which was placed 11th in 2022 and 49 in 2015.
The UNDP announced the new global achievement of the UAE during the meetings of the 68th session of the Commission on the Status of Women, currently underway in New York.
The UAE Gender Balance Council is participating in the event.
Sheikha Manal bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE Gender Balance Council, said improving the ranking in global reports and indicators strengthens the Emirates’ position as a global and regional model for gender balance.
She also said strong partnerships between all state departments and the cooperation of the private sector have played key roles in this achievement.
