The weekend is approaching – what’s on the agenda? A lazy day indoors watching Netflix? A day in the sun at the beach? Brunch with friends and family?

What if we invited you to do something a bit different this Sunday, June 5th, which is World Environment Day. You could be a Leader of Change, a premier program launched by Emirates Nature-WWF and participate in exclusive events where you would network with interesting people, learn from environmental experts, co-create solutions that work for our unique local landscapes and act for nature in nature.

Your impact would reverberate across the UAE and beyond.

Co-create the future

As our planet’s environmental challenges, climate crisis and nature loss continue to become more severe with every passing year, collective action, collaboration and partnership hold the keys to a sustainable future.

From civil society, youth to governments, private organisations and non-profits – we all have a part to play in securing a stable planet for ourselves and generations to come.

As an NGO and active partner in environmental conservation, Emirates Nature-WWF catalyses action by highlighting key areas of importance, piloting conservation projects with our partners and identifying barriers of implementation. We work closely with the government to recommend the viable policies within the UAE and collaborate with the corporate sector to accelerate market transformation.

With the next UN Climate Change Conference (COP28) taking place in UAE next year, we have the opportunity to make a transformative impact in our country and to inspire large-scale environmental action across the world.

Alongside our partners, we can make significant contribution to the UAE’s commitments at COP28 and climate-related policies that support the UAE’s Green Growth Strategy.

The time to act is now

Over the years, we have listened as businesses and individuals have shared the barriers they face in implementing sustainability. We have acted on these insights to ensure that everyone is empowered to take action for nature in a way that is meaningful and impactful.

This World Environment Day, we invite you to join the Leaders of Change programme.

Sign up as a company, government entity or an individual and become part of the UAE’s biggest movement for nature. Annual membership fees will contribute to conservation projects across the country and leaders will learn how to maximise their impact for the short and long-term.

As a Leader of Change you have the opportunity to reap as well as sow benefits to the planet as well. You will have the chance to upskill yourself through exclusive training opportunities on supporting sustainable development, integrating nature-first solutions and transforming organisations from within.

You will ideate, co-create solutions and network with other leaders across the UAE, from organisations such as Mubadala, Boston Consulting Group, Seddiqi Holding, Safran, Visa, Thales Group, ITP Media Group, The Body Shop and many more.

Startups will have the opportunity to be part of incubation programmes and benefit from the support of a diverse and cohesive local community.

Last, and perhaps most exciting, you will volunteer for nature in nature through a series of specialized activities. One of our exclusive events for Leaders of Change includes the ‘After Dark Edition’ – a thrilling night-time hike at Al Qudra Lake to spot animals, record the rich biodiversity and learn about the importance of desert ecosystem.

An impact that matters

The impact of the Leaders of Change programme is growing every day. Together, we are surveying thousands of kilos of plastic waste and restoring thousands of square meters of habitat. We are restoring an ancient falaj in Al Bithnah, Fujairah and establishing an eco-tourism destination at the site – which very well might be the UAE’s first community-built ecotourism spot.

The events and activities offered through the Leaders of Change programme have been designed to make a measurable impact that aligns with science-based targets and the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 commitment.

The Leaders of Change program is designed to be beneficial for everyone at all levels, from beginner to the most avid environmental enthusiast. The programme upskills civil society and working professionals to nurture interest in sustainability and accelerate environment action.

The impact of the Leaders of Change programme is growing every day

We are calling on all of the UAE’s government and businesses to pledge to become a Leader of Change.

All you have to do is sign up at http://www.leadersofchange.ae/ and join other concerned and motivated organizations and individuals in taking action for nature.

So, again, we ask you, what are you doing this coming weekend, on World Environment Day, the biggest international day to celebrate our one planet?
