Three Dubai-based tech start-ups have been awarded at the second business plan competition of Dubai Technology Entrepreneur Centre (DTEC) – The Entrepreneur Day.
Noongam, named the Best Islamic Economy Start-up, also won the grand DTEC Start-up of the Year prize, and received AED 36,731 ($10,000) in cash as well as a free trade licence, flexi-desk space within DTEC and incubational support for the start-up.
JustMop was named the Best Smart City Start-up while 360MEA, a virtual service app, and JustMop, an online on-demand home cleaning service marketplace, was named the Best Travel Tech Start-up.
JustMop and 360MEA walked away with a cash prize of AED 7,346 ($2,000) each.
The three winners were chosen among eight shortlisted applicants who were invited to pitch their business plans to a live audience of 300 attendees and a judging panel.
In addition, the three start-ups will be nominated for access to IBM enterprise-class cloud platforms and services in the value up to AED 88,155 ($24,000) per year.
The competition day also included a special keynote speech on investing in innovation by Ahmed El Alfi, Founder, and Partner of Sawari Venture Partners, and two panels with a number of successful local entrepreneurs discussing the latest start-up trends.
