Dubai organises 'virtual' sports competitions for Ramadan

The Dubai Sports Council is organizing a number of ‘virtual’ sports events during the month of Ramadan, including races, it was announced on Wednesday.

Among the events is the Ramadan Mubarak Challenge, a virtual running event in which all members of a household can participate by registering in either 10 km or 5 km races for men and women, 2.5 km races for kids aged between 12 and 16 and a race for kids under 12.

The challenge will take place on May 15 and May 22, with a 24-hour window – from 9 AM to 9 AM the following day – for participants to race.

After the completion of both events, the results will be combined and the top three winners in each category will receive a medal. All participants will also be sent a digital certificate.

Additionally, Gamers Hub Middle East is organizing a ‘Dota 2’ tournament beginning on April 23, with the finale scheduled for May 9.

During the event, 128 teams from across the region will compete for prizes, with the top finisher getting a prize of AED 5,000.

Lastly, on Saturday, April 25 the Dubai Sports Council has organised a webinar featuring former Newcastle United defender Steven Taylor.
