Visitors to the Innovation Zone at IBM’s stand are witnessing how wireless, intelligent computers might make in-roads into our daily lives. The Watch-Pad ‘wireless assistant’ is one such device. Voice-enabled Bluetooth allows the watch to send and receive voice commands to other computers, or view email messages and calendar entries. Fingerprint sensors uniquely identify its owner. Powered by Linux, this watch technology is being developed by IBM together with Citizen Watch. In an effort to exlpore new types of access devices for the pervasive computing era, the two companies plan to collaborate with major universities by sharing the WatchPad technology for joint research.
