Often cited as the man who changed the face of Arab media, it’s no surprise to see Sheikh Waleed Al Ibrahim once again gracing the Power List top 50.
In 1991, MBC Group’s chairman and CEO launched the first independent Arabic satellite TV station. During the past 18 years, the station has introduced several movie and Arabic TV series channels including MBC 2, MBC 3 and MBC 4.
More recently, the company introduced MBC Persia, which broadcasts Hollywood films with Farsi subtitles, and MBC Action, which airs fast-paced movies.
Born and raised in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Al Ibrahim completed his higher education in America and returned to the Middle East to establish ARA Productions and Television Studios, his first endeavor in the world of media.
Today, MBC Group stands as the largest media group in the Middle East, reaching more than 75 million Arab viewers and listeners across the world.
Three years ago, Al Ibrahim received the ‘Arab Media Luminary Award’ in recognition of his 15-year contribution to Arab media and his entrepreneurial ventures.
