SunGard SCT sets up regional base

SunGard SCT, the e-education division of US$3 billion disaster recovery solutions provider SunGard Data Systems has set up its Middle East headquarters in Knowledge Village, Dubai to support clients from the region’s Higher Education sector.

SunGard SCT, the electronic education division of US$3 billion disaster recovery solutions provider SunGard Data Systems has set up its Middle East headquarters in Knowledge Village, part of the Dubai Technology and Media Free Zone (DTMZ), to support clients from the Higher Education sector.

With more than 1,300 institutions and eight million students around the world, SunGard is aiming to replicate this in the Middle East through a direct regional presence.

“We recognised the need to establish an operation specifically for the region to serve the growing demands for e-education solutions from existing and new clients,” says Mathew Boice, general manager marketing and channel sales, SunGard SCT Europe, Middle East and Africa.

“Knowledge Village provides us with a gateway to the rest of the region, and is set to be a major hub for the evolution of e-learning and the Higher Education sector in the region,” he adds.

The vendor’s solution comprises of products such as, SCT Banner, SCT Power Campus and SCT Luminis. For instance, SCT Banner is a web-based student information, HR and finance system while SCT Luminis product family is a combination of enterprise portal, content management and data integration technologies. SCT Power Campus suite provides administrative applications running on Microsoft’s SQL2000 Server and Windows Server 2003.

“We are pleased to welcome SunGard SCT to the Knowledge Village community. The presence of e-education solution providers like SunGard SCT in Knowledge Village will contribute towards enrich the learning community here,” says Dr. Abdullah Karam, CEO of Knowledge Village.

“We have been active in the region for some time, with important relationships with clients in the UAE, Kuwait, KSA, Lebanon and Egypt. From our regional headquarters in Knowledge Village, we will be able to reach more institutions and work collaboratively with the regional market,” adds Boice.
