Dubai free parking: How to apply, steps, eligibility explained

Here is all you need to know about the free parking permit in Dubai

In a new initiative launched last month, Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced free parking for UAE citizens within 500 metres of their place of residence.

The ‘Parking Permit for Emirati Citizen‘ is now available and can be obtained in a few simple steps.

Eligibility

Citizens residing in paid public parking areas are eligible to apply for this service.

Validity

The Parking Permit for Emirati Citizen is valid for one year.

Terms and Conditions

  • The permit is given based on the size of the apartment or the villa according to the following criteria:
    • Flat with 1 bedroom and a living room or a studio: 2 free permits
    • Flat with 2 bedrooms and a living room: 3 free permits
    • Flat with 3 bedrooms and a living room: 4 free permits
    • Villa or flat with 4 bedrooms or more and a living room: 5 free permits
  • The vehicle must be owned by the permit holder or one of his first-degree relatives.
  • The permit is issued for citizens residing in residential areas surrounding the paid parking spaces.

  • Log in to the RTA website.
  • Select Apply for a Parking Permit for an Emirati Citizen.
  • Click on Apply Now.
  • Select Parking Permit for an Emirati Citizen.
  • Fill in the required details, uploads the required documents and link the vehicles.
  • A response (approval/rejection) will be sent through SMS within 2 working days.
  • Upon approval, the permit will be sent to the registered email address.

  • Submit the required documents at the centre.
  • A response (approval/rejection) will be sent through SMS within 2 working days.
  • Upon approval, the permit will be sent to the registered email address.

Required documents

  • Copy of the passport or the Emirates ID
  • Copy of the ownership of the house/Title Deed or the valid tenancy agreement approved by Ejari
  • Copy of the valid ownership of the vehicle/Mulkiya in the name of the owner of the house or the tenant or a first-degree relative.
