The date of the event has not been announced yet but will mark the launch of the British watch brand Bremont in the Middle East.

“It was a world first and about one and a half billion people around the world saw this,” Giles English, founder and CEO of Bremond, said of Connery’s previous dive.

“So if there is one place to break this record, Dubai is the place to do it,” he added.

Connery came to prominence as a successful Hollywood stuntman and he has worked on a string of blockbuster movies, including Batman Begins, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows, Indiana Jones and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Johnny English Reborn and Captain Corelli’s Mandolin.
