King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC) has announced that it has signed a contract with Citiscape Company for the construction of Royal Greens, an 18-hole championship golf course.
The golf course will be built in Al Murooj, the KAECs coastal community, a statement said, adding that the SR85 million ($22.6 million) project has already broken ground.
Fahd Al-Rasheed, KAEC Group CEO and managing director, said the course was on schedule for a December 2015 soft opening.
Royal Greens encompasses an area of 800,000 sq m, with a length of play of 6,295 metres, and offers four tee options per hole.
The golf course complex will also offer a world-class practice facility, a driving range, a teaching academy, a short game area and putting, chipping and bunker practice greens.
The championship course was designed by European Golf Design, a joint venture design company involving the PGA European Tour and IMG.
Since its founding in 1992, it has been the creative force behind some of the most impressive new courses across Europe, Africa, the Middle East, the Caribbean and Asia.
