Kent College and Mir Hashem Khoory (MHK) have signed a partnership agreement to open a campus of the top UK-based school in September at Meydan in Dubai.
Kent College Dubai will be run in partnership with Kent College Canterbury which was founded in 1885.
The campus will be managed by Kent College Canterbury and will spread over 400,000 sq ft and will have the capacity to educate more than 2,000 students from the UAE, GCC and all over the world.
The build, costing an estimated £27 million, is expected to be completed in early 2016. Registration of students will commence this month for all years with the exception of Year 11 and Year 13.
Kent College Canterbury offers day and boarding facilities to children aged between three and 18 and is well known for its academic and co-curricular activities, a statement said.
“There will be many similarities between the two campuses and the vision is to offer the same quality of provision in Dubai that students receive in the UK,” the statement added.
Carmella Jodrell, head of the junior school in Dubai, said: “Kent College is a school that is extremely proud of its achievements and reputation. The decision to open a campus in Dubai came from a desire to expand into the global and international academic field.”
Kent College Dubai will ensure that statutory requirements, including Arabic and Islamic studies, are maintained, and will also offer a range of after-school activities to support creative, sporting, academic, musical and dramatic interests.
