Miral, Abu Dhabi’s creator of immersive destinations and experiences, has reported that the expansion of Yas Waterworld on Yas Island is now over 55 per cent complete. The 16,900 sqm expansion is set to open to the public in 2025.

The project will increase guest capacity by 20 per cent, introducing 18 new rides and attractions, including 3.3km of slide sections.

This will bring the park’s total to more than 70 rides and experiences.

Miral announces significant progress in Yas Waterworld expansion

“This expansion, building on Yas Waterworld’s popularity with both local and international visitors over the past decade, reaffirms our commitment to constantly elevating Yas Island’s position as a top global destination for entertainment and leisure. We are thrilled to be providing our guests from around the world an enriched and exciting new experience,” Jonathan Brown, Miral’s Chief Portfolio Officer said.

The expansion will feature the UAE’s highest slide and the first water-based amusement ride integrated into a waterslide complex, with a 15-metre drop designed for up to 20 guests.

Construction milestones include over 67 per cent of concrete poured, totalling 10,662 cubic meters, and 25 per cent of steel columns installed.

A new adventure, ‘The Legend of the Lost Village’, will be unveiled, offering guests a journey to discover hidden treasures and secret passages.

The expansion will also include scaled-down versions of popular rides ‘Dawwama Junior’ and ‘Sebag’ for younger visitors, along with eight additional pools and new food and beverage outlets.

Since its opening in 2013, Yas Waterworld has received over 65 industry awards, including a Guinness World Records title for ‘World’s Largest Swimming Lesson’.

In 2023, it received awards from MENA Stevie Awards, TripAdvisor, and World Travel Awards 2024.

Yas Waterworld is part of Yas Island’s attractions, which include Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World, CLYMB, Yas Bay Waterfront, Etihad Arena, the Warner Bros. themed hotel, and SeaWorld Yas Island.
