Dubai real estate agents have been given 3 days to remove unavailable properties from all online listings, according to the Land Department.

Following investigations by the Real Estate Regulation Agency, properties not available for sale or rent were identified among online listings.

Real estate agents in Dubai have just three days to remove the “fake” listings or face fines, said the Land Department.

A post on social media said: “Through our scheduled inspections of electronic real estate portals, we noticed that there are some properties that are no longer available for sale or rent and are still displayed on the portals by real estate agents.

“Accordingly, all real estate offices must update the digital real estate platforms portals within 3 working days, which should result in removing all unavailable properties for rental or sales.”

It added that evidence of the removals of fake or expired listings be sent directly to RERA, adding that violators who do not remove advertisements will be fined.

It comes as the Land Department is tightening rules on real estate advertising in the city.

Last week, the Real Estate Regulatory Agency announced it had fined 30 real estate companies for failing to comply with the terms and conditions specified in real estate advertisements, which are established to govern advertisements and curb negative practices within the industry.

This includes providing accurate and correct information to customers by obtaining advertising licences.

Additionally, it is obligatory to include a QR code to enable investors to identify and verify all associated property data advertised.
