Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has reviewed plans for a new cultural district within the Azizi Venice community in Dubai South.
The project, launched by Azizi Developments, aims to enhance Dubai’s cultural and artistic landscape while fostering innovation in the creative sector.
Mirwais Azizi, Founder and Chairman of Azizi Developments, briefed Sheikh Mohammed on the project’s key components, the Dubai Media Office (DMO) said in a statement.
Dubai South to house State-of-the-Art Opera House, Theatre
The cultural district aligns with the Dubai Creative Economy Strategy, supporting the leadership’s vision to transform Dubai into a global creative economy capital. It will feature creative business incubators utilising advanced technology to empower creatives and boost the sector’s global competitiveness.
The district will house several facilities, including a 2,500-seat opera house designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, a 400-seat theatre, exhibition halls accommodating up to 2,000 people, and a performing arts academy.
“It will provide an ideal environment for artists and entrepreneurs to showcase work, develop skills, and transform ideas into successful businesses,” Azizi said, emphasising the project’s contribution to Dubai’s economic diversification and its goal of enhancing the emirate’s status as a global creative powerhouse, the statement said.
The project is expected to attract artists and creatives from around the world, contributing to Dubai’s economic diversification and enhancing its status as a global creative hub.
“This project embodies Dubai’s rich cultural tapestry and its understanding of culture’s vital role in fostering vibrant communities, economic prosperity, and social stability,” Azizi added.
