Souq.com has become the first e-commerce firm in Saudi Arabia to offer same-day delivery services, the company has announced.
The service will be available for ‘Fulfilled by Souq’ products in Riyadh and Jeddah.
“At Souq, we are always focused on the customer and giving them the easiest, fastest and most convenient shopping experience,” said Souq.com KSA general manager Saleem Hammad.
“We are delighted to bring our new same day delivery service to customers in Riyadh and Jeddah, so they can now have their favourite ‘Fulfilled by Souq’ products delivered to them within hours of ordering.”
The service will cost customers SAR 24, with no minimum order requirements. For same day delivery, however, customers will need to order before noon.
“We believe that deploying innovation that allows for same day delivery is a significant step forward for the region, allowing customers to choose from a large assortment of products and categories at the quickest turnaround,” Hammad added. “This coupled with the ease of our app and website further makes our customers’ online shopping experience even more seamless and enjoyable.”
Entrepreneur Amr Abdul-Aziz, owner of Derma.KSA1, uses Souq.com for his business. He said the service means he will now be able to get his products to customers “even faster.”
“The guarantee to provide the customer with the purchased item on the same day also allows me to manage my inventory better,” he said. “In our fast-paced world, it’s great seeing that customers don’t have to wait for days to receive their favourite products.”
In April, Souq founder Ronaldo Mouchawar said that the company wants to “make sure services work well” in Saudi Arabia before relaunching the website as Amazon in the kingdom. The Middle East’s largest online shopping website relaunched to become part of the Amazon e-commerce portal in all countries in the region except Saudi and Egypt.
