Nestlé Waters, one of the region’s leading producers of pure drinking water, is building a factory close to Jebel Ali, Dubai, to service the UAE’s burgeoning bottled water sector.
The factory, which is expected to be operational by the end of 2008, will allow Nestlé Waters to improve the distribution and sales of its Nestlé Pure Life bottled water brand in the UAE, according to Elias Fayad, Nestlé Waters’ marketing and sales director for the Middle East and North Africa.
Nestle Waters launched its Nestle Pure Life brand in PET bottles in UAE in 2006, but the product is being imported from Saudi Arabia, making it more difficult for the company to compete with local UAE brands.
“Importing from Saudi Arabia was stage one from our plan to enter the UAE market,” Fayad said. “We are building a new factory in the UAE with enough capacity to satisfy our ambition to be one of the key players in the market.”
