UAE home-grown barbershop chain expanding across region and US

Chaps & Co has picked upmarket outlets for expansion such as Bloomingdale’s at Dubai Mall along with Saudi Arabia and New York’s Broadway

UAE home-grown barbershop chain Chaps & Co is expanding across the region and the US.

The gentlemen’s barbershop was founded in 2015 and now has a total of 10 operational barbershops across the MENA region and in the US. It wants to open another four branches by the end of the year.

While its expansion plans were derailed by the Covid-19 pandemic, it has bounced back and has launched flagship branches in Riyadh and New York.

Founder of Chaps & Co, Jordan Davies, said: “The pandemic taught us valuable business lessons and provided time to strategise the next few years. We’re incredibly proud to now be in a position of international expansion.”

Earlier this year, the barbershop introduced its concept to the city of Riyadh, in the newly-renovated Nojoud Mall. Last year, Chaps & Co launched its first US location in New York’s trendy NoMad neighbourhood. Situated on Broadway, the outlet is minutes away from Madison Square Park.

“The short-term focus is to continue our success within the GCC, expanding our current portfolio and introducing Chaps & Co to neighbouring GCC countries.

“Mid to long-term focus is expansion of our US presence, first in New York, and neighbouring states and later developing throughout the US,” he told Arabian Business.

In Dubai, Chaps & Co celebrated the opening of its barbershop in Bloomingdale’s at The Dubai Mall towards the end of 2021, and most recently, in March 2022, opened a barbershop in the Jumeirah Islands Clubhouse.

Davies says what sets his brand apart from others are its professionally trained barbers and stylists, plus a diverse range of services such as haircuts, shaves, manicures, pedicures, massages and facial treatments.

International and regional expansion has been a long-standing vision for Chaps & Co, and it looks to continue for new openings with five projects under consideration in three new markets.

“Our growth plans for Chaps & Co are adaptive, and as the world returns to ‘normal’, we are eager to be a part of the changing lifestyles of men globally.

“Widening our geographic footprint supports our mission to be convenient, accessible, and approachable so that more men can take special care of their appearance and feel good about themselves,” added Davies.
