Dubai School of Government launches web portal for governments

DSG portal, developed with Microsoft, will enable collaboration and communication on government best practices

The Dubai School of Government (DSG) has launched a new web portal in conjunction with Microsoft which intends to promote effective cross-government collaboration in order to assist government modernisation throughout the Arab world.

According to DSG, the aim of the new portal is enable regional governments to exchange best practices and expertise about proven and effective government policies and programmes. The portal will also act as a repository for information including discussions, research and documentation, which can be accessed by the community. Members of the community include pDSG web portal, developed with Microsoft, will enable collaboration and co-operatiopn on best practice for government rominent regional academics, e-government practitioners and global experts.

Nabil Ali Al Yousuf, executive president of DSG, said global expertise, training, software tools and support of good governance through technology were key reasons why Microsoft was selected as the partner for this portal project.

“We have identified e-government as a powerful tool to promote public-sector efficiency, transparency and accountability across the Arab world. That’s why helping countries get this right is so important to us and why we have agreed to take over management and further develop this portal.”

Charbel Fakhoury, Microsoft Gulf’s general manager added: “The portal represents a powerful example of how technology can be applied to help governments operate more effectively and provide better services to their customers – the citizens, residents and businesses located in their respective countries.”
