Purchase of cybersecurity solutions, services and apps, as well as cybersecurity training for employees are the most popular IT investments among businesses this year, a latest research showed.
The most prominent cyber attacks last year were phishing (40 percent), malware (36 percent), and data breaches (27 percent), causing serious financial damages to companies, the research by NordLayer said.
The research showed that companies combine different measures to achieve security.
“More than 7 out of 10 companies utilise antivirus software (78 percent), while secure passwords and file encryption (both 67 percent) are the second-highest priority when creating security policies within organisations at the moment,” it said.
Business virtual private networks (VPNs) maintain their popularity in securing organisation network connections, with over half (60 percent) of companies using them.
The research also showed that cyber insurance (48 percent) is a relatively new solution making its way to business cybersecurity, although its focus is on covering the consequences of an incident rather than preventing it.
Budget allocation for cybersecurity needs
According to the NordLayer survey, spending on cybersecurity solutions, services, and applications will remain a priority (61 percent) in the 2023 budget for companies, followed by cybersecurity training for employees (56 percent).
The research also showed that about 35 percent companies plan to allocate up to a quarter of their organisational budget for IT needs in 2023, and another 32 percent plan to invest up to half of their budget.
NordLayer, an adaptive network access security solution provider, surveyed organisations of various sizes for its research.
