NEC states its preference

Vendor launches new channel certification programme around its corporate back-up and software solutions

Hardware vendor NEC has got its new partner programme under way in the Middle East and claims the scheme will make it more attractive for resellers to work with the company.

The initiative – which NEC has dubbed ‘PREFERENCE’ – is currently limited to its back-up product and ExpressCluster software solution, but the vendor plans to grow the scheme with the introduction of new lines.

“Our partners are key to the growth of NEC in the region and this initiative is our commitment to empower them to offer their customers our comprehensive range of solutions backed by regular up-to-date technical support and knowledge,” said Johan Degroote, business development manager for EMEA at NEC. “PREFERENCE will make our certification more accessible to our partners in remote areas.”

Middle East partners that sign up to the programme receive a starter kit for each product line, which includes a two-day technical training programme and direct access to NEC support. Meanwhile, NEC has also decided to participate in Sony’s global replacement programme for laptop batteries.

The company is offering a free replacement of Sony battery packs bought in Versa M340 mobile PCs shipped between August 2004 and December 2005, and Versa M350, P550 and C250 systems shipped between July 2005 and February 2006.
