Leading mobile phone company Nokia has launched its most luxurious phone to date, the Nokia 8800 Sirocco Edition. Priced at US$1,283, it features stainless steel surfaces, a scratch-resistant glass display window and an ergonomic keypad.
It was crafted using the same techniques as those used by master watchmakers and jewellers, the company said.
Other distinctive features of the premium phone include a sapphire coating of its colour display and a distinctive slide mechanism. Its signature feature is a thumbprint across the scratch-resistant glass display, which is described as perfectly matching the human hand. Its technical highlights include a two-megapixel camera.
The handset will also boast a nature-inspired soundtrack especially composed by musician Brian Eno.
