Revealed: the UAE’s top trending Google terms 2015

The iPhone 6s, Sheikh Rashid, Adele’s ‘Hello’ and Indian Premier League all included in among the emirate’s top ten search terms this year

Apple’s iPhone 6s was the most searched for query in the UAE, according to Google’s annual ‘Year in Search’ report.

The top ten lists offer a perspective on the year’s major moments and compile the top trends based on searches conducted in the UAE.

The most searched for person was in UAE was Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, as people searched the late royal’s life accomplishments following his untimely passing earlier this year.

The iPhone 6s earned the top spot for consumer electronics searches in 2015, and Adele’s ‘Hello’ topped the trending song search chart. Among the biggest trending brands for 2015 were Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, Souq.com and Dubai Electricity and Water Authority.

The biggest movie of the year, according to the search, was ‘Fast and Furious 7’, while the Indian Premier League topped the trending sports event list, followed by ICC World Cup 2015 and the Rugby World Cup 2015.
