BenQ have announced they’re releasing the DSC X800, the world’s thinnest 8 megapixel digital camera, in the Middle East next month.
The DSC X800 is only 9.8mm thick, but despite its size the camera features a three inch LCD screen, VGA movie mode, digital image stabilisation and an mp3 player. It also has a 3x optical zoom, but all of the lens’ movement still takes place inside the camera.
For storage, the unit features a MicroSD card slot.
The recommended retail price for the camera is as yet undisclosed, but the DC X725, the 14.7mm thick 7 Megapixel camera BenQ released last year is currently selling for around $250.
BenQ might not be a big name in digital cameras, but it’s fast building a reputation for itself as a producer of the slimmest and lightest digicams available.
