Dubai airport services firm Dnata has signed an agreement with Irish national carrier Aer Lingus to operate its catering services.
The agreement, which starts in June this year, will see Dnata provide catering services for all Aer Lingus flights departing Dublin.
The deal comes after Aer Lingus reached an agreement with the local union that will see staff either transfer to Dnata, or work for the Dubai firm under a secondment arrangement with Aer Lingus, according to the Sunday Independent newspaper.
Dnata opened an operation adjacent to Dublin airport in 2018, its second catering facility, with another operation in Cork.
“This agreement demonstrates our confidence in the Irish market and the opportunity it offers, with passenger numbers passing through the country’s airports rising collectively year-on-year through to 2019. Fit-out and enhancement of our new and existing facility at Dublin Airport Logistics Park is progressing well,” said Robin Padgett, divisional senior vice president for Dnata’s catering division.
“We believe our investment is good news for the Irish economy at this challenging time. Aer Lingus has a team of dedicated, passionate employees in its existing catering division and we will support those who choose to join dnata.”
