Muhammad BinGhatti secures the DD 5 plate with a record-breaking AED 35 million bid

Dubai’s ‘Most Noble Number’ charity auction raised AED83.6 million through the sale of premium car plate numbers and exclusive phone numbers, with the DD 5 number plate fetching a whopping AED35 million bid.

The event, held at the Armani Hotel Dubai in Burj Khalifa, saw five premium car plates under the DD code fetch more than AED75 million, while 20 exclusive mobile numbers generated an additional AED7.7 million in bids.

All proceeds from the auction will be directed to the Fathers’ Endowment campaign, an initiative launched by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai.

The campaign aims to implement vital healthcare projects in underserved communities, aligning with the charitable spirit of Ramadan.

Muhammad BinGhatti, Chairman of Binghatti Holding, emerged as the auction’s most significant contributor. He secured not only the night’s most expensive item – the DD 5 plate for AED35 million – but also acquired the DD 15 plate for AED9.2 million, bringing his total contribution to an impressive AED44.2 million, more than half of the auction’s total proceeds.

The auction floor was filled with leading businessmen, humanitarians, and philanthropists who engaged in spirited bidding. Base prices for car plates started at AED2 million but quickly escalated.

Among the participants was a young child, affectionately referred to by hosts as “the cub,” who called bids on behalf of his father and successfully secured plate number DD 24 for AED6.3 million.

Other notable sales included DD 12 fetching AED12.8 million and DD 77 selling for AED12.6 million.

The auction featured 20 premium mobile numbers that collectively raised over AED7 million.

Ten e& UAE numbers generated AED4.732 million, while ten du mobile numbers brought in Dh3.045 million.

The most expensive mobile number of the night was du’s 0584444444, which sold for Dh1.7 million, followed closely by e& UAE’s 0565000000, which commanded Dh1.6 million.

The ‘Most Noble Number’ auction was organised by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI) in collaboration with Emirates Auction, with support from the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), e& UAE, and du.
