Emirates flight EK17 from Dubai to Manchester on October 18 diverted the flight to Istanbul following a passenger medical emergency.
Upon landing in Istanbul, the individual was met by local medical personnel and subsequently offloaded to receive essential treatment. After a brief delay, flight EK17 resumed its course to Manchester.
In response to the incident, the airline issued a statement, saying, “Emirates flight EK17 from Dubai to Manchester on October 18 was diverted to Istanbul due to a passenger medical emergency.
“Upon arrival in Istanbul, the passenger was met by local medical staff and offloaded to receive the necessary treatment. Flight EK17 continued its journey to Manchester after a short delay. Emirates apologises for any inconvenience caused. The health and safety of our passengers and crew is of paramount importance,” the spokesperson said.
Emirates flight arriving in Manchester undergoes ‘security checks’
Previously, the airline also confirmed that flight EK019, arriving in Manchester on October 17, underwent additional security checks upon landing.
“We can confirm that flight EK019 arriving in Manchester today was subjected to additional security checks upon arrival. Emirates crew and ground teams co-operated fully with the authorities. After local authorities cleared the aircraft, it proceeded to the gate where passengers disembarked as normal,” the spokesperson said.
