Emirates unveils new business class seat

New seat includes its own mini bar and one of the industry’s largest personal television screens at 23 inches

Emirates has unveiled its new business class seat at the travel show ITB Berlin.

The new seat has an ergonomically designed headrest, a pitch (length) of 72 inches and can be electrically moved into a fully flat sleeping position at 180 degrees via the touchscreen controller.

The new seat, which will be installed in all new Boeing 777 delivered from November onwards, includes its own mini bar and one of the industry’s largest personal television screens at 23 inches.

As with most airline seats, customers will have a USB port to charge their devices, but also an HDMI port to stream content from their personal devices directly onto the IFE screen.

Emirates has also redesigned the area around each seat, including the privacy panel between seats, as the literature pocket, foot rest, shoe stowage area, and expanded the personal meal table.

The seat retains Emirates’ colour tones of dark and light grey, accentuated with burled walnut veneers around the personal inflight entertainment screen, centre console, mini-bar and privacy panel, in keeping with the airline’s distinctive cabin interior colour palette.

Emirates will retain its current seat layout of 2-3-2 across its Boeing 777 Business Class cabins, as well the total number of Business Class seats per aircraft at 42.

Sir Tim Clark, President, Emirates airline, said: “Our current Boeing 777 Business Class seats are already an industry-leading premium product, and what this new seat does is to take that design and comfort to the next level. We gave the seat a fresh and modern look, retained all the existing features that our customers love and added a few more, while improving the seating and sleeping comfort.

Emirates is the world’s largest operator of Boeing 777s with 155 in its fleet at present, and a further 188 on order.
