The Kuwaiti government is making significant strides in its infrastructure development, with two major projects nearing completion.

The construction of the new passenger terminal at Kuwait International Airport, known as T2, is in its final stages, according to a report by Al-Rai daily.

The upcoming terminal, designed to be LEED Gold Certified, exemplifies the government’s commitment to environmental sustainability and energy efficiency.

One notable feature is the installation of photovoltaic panels on the roof, which will harness solar energy to power the building.

The T2 terminal aims to accommodate 25 million passengers each year, offering convenience and comfort to travelers.

With 51 boarding gates and ample aircraft parking lots, it will also facilitate efficient operations by accommodating up to 21 Airbus and A380 aircraft simultaneously.

Kuwait’s ambitious port expansion plan

In parallel, the government is working on the development of the Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port, a crucial maritime facility.

The port’s ambitious expansion plan encompasses multiple stages, with each stage significantly increasing its absorptive capacity.

In the first stage, the port aims to handle 1.8 million containers annually.

This capacity is set to rise to 2.7 million containers in the second phase and an impressive 3.6 million containers annually in the third and final stage.

The government has successfully completed various aspects of the project. This includes the design, implementation, and maintenance of vital infrastructure such as roads, bridges, and soil reclamation.

Additionally, the construction of port walls, anchorage facilities for small boats, and burial works for four berths has been accomplished.

Moreover, a road connecting the first phase with the existing road on Bubiyan Island has been constructed and is now operational.
