The expansion of hotel group Habtoor Hotels will not compromise the appeal of the independent UAE brand’s original properties, according to the group’s chief executive.Discussing the company’s latest project, The Habtoor Grand Palm Resort and Spa on The Palm Jumeirah, Habtoor Hotels chief executive Rahim Abu Omar said he saw no reason for independent hotel brands to lose any of their original appeal when increasing their portfolio.

“Independent hotels don’t need to compromise their original appeal when expanding,” Omar said. “Each independent hotel chain follows a certain theme and character, and that should be implemented in every new property that is opened,”

The five-star Habtoor Grand Palm Resort and Spa, set to open in 2010, will boast 217 rooms and suites, 91 apartments, four villas, conference and events facilities, a spa and gym, a shopping arcade and various leisure facilities, as well as numerous food and beverage outlets.

To date Habtoor Hotels, a subsidiary of the Al Habtoor Group, has developed three brands: Habtoor Grand Hotels and Resorts, Metropolitan Palace, and Metropolitan.
